1. Fluids — Notions.
In the nature there is a group of substances generally denominated fluids, which present properties in common very characteristic. In all of them is observed, for instance, a great easiness in flowing. This happens because its molecules move easily some in relation to the other ones. Some examples could turn easier the understanding of that we have just said.
They are flowing, when in the ambient temperature, the following substances: water, alcohol, gasoline, milk, oxygen, finally, all the liquids and all the gases.
For the examples enumerated above it can be noticed that, among the fluids, in spite of several properties in common, they exist, however, many and fundamental differences. They can differ plenty, from with relationship to their consistence and coloration even with relationship to their specific usefulness and effects that can cause in the human organism.
The Spirits have revealed us the existence of new substances of fluidic nature until today ignored of the official science...
In the current study we will make prominence for the following substances of fluidic nature:
- The Universal Cosmic Fluid;
- The Vital Fluid;
- The Spiritual Fluid.
1.1. The Universal Cosmic Fluid.
Fluid is the cosmic element, which gives origin the formation of all the things and for their consequent modifications.
The universal cosmic fluid is, in the Kardec’s words, "the elementary primitive matter, of which the modifications and transformations constitute the innumerable varieties of the bodies of Nature". In other words: it is the basic primitive matter starting from which all the others are formed.
Its nature is still not much known, but we know that:
- There are inherent forces in ether, which have presided at the metamorphoses of matter, the necessary and immutable laws which rule the world. These multiple forces are known upon Earth under the names of weight, cohesion, affinity, attraction, magnetism, and active electricity; the agent of vibratory movements, those of sound, light, heat, etc. In other worlds they are presented under other aspects, offer other characters unknown in the Earth. Each globe possesses the Law of Fluids of conformity with its planetary organization. (Emmanuel, The Consoler – question 23). And in the immense extent of the heavens an indefinite number of forces are developed upon an unimaginable ladder, the grandeur of which we are as incapable of estimating as the crustacean animal in the depth of the ocean is of understanding the universality of terrestrial phenomena. (Genesis, chapter 6, item 10).
- It offers in states; that of etherealization, or imponderability, that one can consider as the primitive, normal state, and that of materialization, or ponderability, which is in some sort only consecutive. In rarefied state, it is diffused by the interplanetary spaces, and it penetrates the bodies; it is as an immense ocean, in which everything and all in the Universe are dived.
- It is distinguished of the matter that we knew for its special properties; it is more perfect and subtle matter and that it can consider independent. But it itself is that in its modifications and transformations, it gives origin the countless variety of the bodies of the nature and it determines the several properties of each one of them.
- It performs intermediate function between the Spirit and the Matter, properly speaking (which is for too much rude so that the Spirit can exercise direct action on it). Being the agent, which the Spirit uses, it is the beginning without which the matter would be in perpetual division state, and the matter would never acquire the qualities that the gravity gives to it.
- It is generating of worlds, things and material organisms. Through its innumerable combinations with the matter and by the action of the Spirit, it is susceptible of producing the infinite varieties, of which we know a minimum part.
One of the most important products of the Universal Cosmic Fluid is the Perispirit.
1.2. The Vital Fluid.
Each soul possesses in the own thought the incessant fount of the own energies, whether it will or not. Alive currents stream of the intimate of each intelligence and, they are going to project themselves into energetic halo, structuring their aura or psychic atmosphere, at basis of constant energetic loads, according to the nature which is peculiar to it, in certain way similar to the currents of force which leave from the planetary mass, composing the atmosphere that involve it. (Andre Luiz).
The Vital Fluid is one of the combinations of the U.C.F., (and in the organic beings as mankind, animals and, plants), is responsible by the animation of the matter. The Vital Fluid can be known as Magnetic or Electric Fluid.
The Vital Fluid can be transmitted from an element to other.
The Vital Fluid, also called of vital principle, is a modified form of the Universal Cosmic Fluid. It is the basic element of the life. Life here is considered in the sense attributed by the science that only characterizes for the phenomena of the birth, growth, reproduction and death.
Observe that in this category, evidently, the Spirits are not included, since they don’t satisfy, at least, the last two conditions – reproduction and death.
In Genesis, Kardec assures that through the death, the vital principle is extinguished. Of the fact it is the existence, or not, of the vital fluid that distinguishes an alive body of the other without life.
In spite of we already count, when being born, with certain amount of the vital fluid, our body needs to constantly be supplied of this fluid, in reason of its constant use, mainly in the processes attached to the metabolism.
It is, however, characteristic of the living beings the capacity of producing vital fluid continually, starting from the universal cosmic fluid, as well as the capacity of absorbing to it directly, starting from the own victuals. Another possibility of absorption of the vital fluid is through the fluidic transfusion.
Kardec clearly refers that possibility when he affirms that: The vital fluid is transmitted of an individual to other. It is exactly that property, characteristic of the vital fluid, one of the fundaments in that is based the pass.
In the same chapter of Kardec’s work, above mentioned, we still got the information: "The amount of the vital fluid is not the same in all organic beings: it varies according to the species, and it is not constant in the same individual, nor in the several individuals of a same genus".
Really, in the childhood, the capacity of processing the cosmic fluid for the production of the vital fluid is very accentuated. That capacity maintain itself more or less unchanged during the youth, but starting from the certain age it becomes quite reduced, fact this that takes to a progressive decrease of the individual’s vitality, taking to the general aging of the organism.
The death happens when the organism loses the capacity of producing and to retain a certain minimum amount of vital fluid – natural death – or when a more serious lesion in the physical body provokes a rate of drainage of that fluid in superior amounts at its production capacity – accidental death.
They have been the homeopaths that here introduced the magnetic passes, as immediate aid of the healings.
We must not confuse vital fluid with mental irradiations, categorized specifically. The vital fluid is consequence of the physical cellular factories, whose ensemble gives to it a sense, although the psychism can influence, as it really influences, through the emotional conditions and decisions of the will; that means that the field of the vital fluid can suffer variations according to the individual’s desire, beside the psychological moment that utters.
In the organism the zone that larger concentration possesses of those energies is the sanguine mass; that liquid section, of appropriate viscosity, in turn of 5 or 6 liters, in the adult, it will be the seat and source of the great mechanisms that physical life can offer. In its capability, the sanguine mass carries the individual’s own vitality.
The man, alive being more expressive in the scale of the life and, per already to possess the mechanism of the comprehension, will have great responsibilities with what is irradiated through his daily acts, of his attitudes before the fellow creatures and, mainly, before inferior beings; to attack them, under any pretext, it is to discord into the balance law and to modify the vibrations of his vital fluid in the planetary crucible.
The more we misuse with our attitudes the mechanisms of the life, without obedience to the healthy principles, without the will of to succeed us into the good and without to cultivate us the reasons of the intellect, we will be producers of deleterious agglutinations as a result of the unhealthy irradiations of our vital fluid. However, if we balance ourselves in constructive attitudes, if we develop the good under any tonality, we will spill beneficial fluids, even if our possibilities are reduced.
The beings of spiritual world, that do not possess vital fluid, need our collaboration, as indispensable, for many of the tasks of helping, which they purpose themselves.
1.3. The Spiritual Fluid.
The spiritual beings live into a fluidic atmosphere, in other words, an atmosphere fully of fluids.
The fluids of the fluidic atmosphere are denominated spiritual fluids. Such denomination is not rigorously exact, because they are still matter, inasmuch as derive from universal cosmic fluid.
We just say spiritual fluids for a comparison, because they constitute as that the matter of the spiritual world and they preserve affinity with the spirits.
The fluidic atmosphere is not same in all planes and worlds.
As less material is the life in them, so much less affinity have their fluids with the matter, properly speaking.
These fluids acting upon the perispirit, the latter, in its turn, reacts upon the material organism with which it is in molecular contact. If the effluvia are of a good nature, the bodies receive a salutary impression, if bad, a painful one. If the bad are permanent and energetic, they can cause physical disorders; certain maladies have no other cause.
In the spiritual terrestrial atmosphere the fluids are not the purest, these fluids are nearest materiality. These fluids, however subtle and impalpable they may be to us, are nevertheless of comparatively gross nature to the ethereal fluids of the superior regions.
The spirits, who inhabit the fluidic atmosphere of the Earth, extract to it the fluids with that they make their spiritual bodies (perispirit).
On that fluidic atmosphere happen certain special phenomena, such as:
- The phenomenon of the light peculiar to the spiritual world (which is different from the ordinary light because of its causes and effects).
- The phenomenon of the vehicle for thought (such as in the Earth as the air is for sound).
Spirits act upon spiritual fluids by the aid of thought and will. Thought and will are to the spirit that which the hand is to man.
By thought the spirits impress these fluids into such and such directions. They agglomerate them, combine or disperse them.
The thought of the incarnated spirit acts upon the spiritual fluids in the same way. It is transmitted from spirit to spirit by perispirit. And, according as it is good or bad, it holds a vicious or healthy relation to the surrounding fluids.
For that the qualities and properties of fluids alter themselves, there is no need for the thought to be formed into words. The fluidic radiation exists all the same, whether it is expressed or not.
Thought produces, then, a substantial effect, which reacts upon our moral being. Thought produces, then, a substantial effect, which reacts upon the moral world and the environment and altering the spiritual atmosphere.
In the same way that a bad and vicious thought produces bad sensations, a good thought and of love, produces salutary and reparative sensations.
Allan Kardec asks: how can we be preserved from the influence of undeveloped spirits, which multiply around us, and glide everywhere without being seen?
"The means are simple, for it depends upon the will of the man. Fluids unite by reason of the similitude of their nature; dissimilar ones repel each other. There is an incompatibility between good and bad fluids, as between oil and water".
"...The will, in all the phenomena, performs important office. The will is attribute of the Spirit and with that lever he acts on the elementary matter, reacting on its compositions, whose intimate properties (atomic) they come like this to be transformed. The will is attribute of the Spirit, be incarnated or disincarnated. Thus, it is explained the faculty of certain people’s cure, through contact and the imposition of hands (passes), faculty that some people possess more or less in degree high".
2. Quality of Fluids.
"Magnetic fluid has two distinct sources: incarnated spirits and disincarnated spirits. That difference of origin produces a great difference on the quality of the fluid and on its effects". (Spiritist Magazine, year VII, September 1865, volume 9, pages 249 and following.)
"The human fluid is always more or less impregnated of physical and moral impurities of the incarnated being; the fluid of the good Spirits is necessarily purer and, so, it has more active properties that result in more prepared cure. But, passing through the incarnated being can be altered... Whence, for all healing medium, the need to work for his moral improvement..." (Spiritist Magazine, year VII, September 1865, volume 9, pages 249 and following.)
Fluids of inferior spirits can have malefic properties for the man, mainly if the Spirit is impure and animated of bad intentions. The fluid, which emanate from unhealthy body can inoculate morbid principles into the diseased. Wherefore the pass giver’s fluid can be salutary or insalubrious, according to he has been a good or bad individual.
Fluids do have special denominations; as well as the scents are designated by their properties, their effects and, their original type.
Under the moral point of view, they bring the impression of the feelings: hate, envies, jealousy, pride, selfishness, violence, hypocrisy, vanity, kindness, sweetness, benevolence, compassion, love, charity, etc.
Of the physical point of view they are: exciting, sedatives, penetrating, astringent, irritating, sweetening, soporific, narcotics, toxicant, remedial, scattered.
The fluidic action associated to the men’s reciprocal action, some on another ones. That is, the magnetism, it can depends on:
- Of the sum of the fluid that each one possesses;
- Of the intrinsic nature of the fluid of each one, exception of the amount;
- Of the degree of impelling energy and, certainly, of these three gathered factors.
The results of fluidic transmission can be:
- Beneficial:
- Depends on the pass giver who must be in following conditions:
- Good state of health.
- Spiritual balance.
- Affinity with the Good Spirits is needed for the pass to have beneficial results.
- Depends on the patient who must be:
- Receptive, (favorable to the aid and must be in prayer).
- Well disposed to improve himself.
- Harmful:
- Depends on the pass giver when:
- He is in a precarious state of health. (In deficit of vital fluid).
- His organism is intoxicated due to vices such as smoking, drinking, drugs, etc.
- Is in a state of spiritual imbalance due to sentiments of revolt, vanity, pride, anger, desperation, worry, mistrust, etc.
- He is not in condition to transmit the pass.
- Depends on the patient when:
- The patient’s defenses are almost non-existent and he is unable to neutralize the torrent of inferior and gross fluids being transmitted by the careless pass giver.
- Null:
- Depends on the patient when:
- If, despite the aid being offered by a well-prepared pass giver, the patient places himself in an impenetrable position due to disbelief, aversion, or a frivolous attitude, etc, the pass is voided. The patient will not be able to absorb the spiritual fluids, thus becoming nullified. We can reiterate the need for the patient to collaborate by being receptive and also by changing his mental attitudes so as to be healed.
- The pass can also be nullified by the patient who receives gross or negative fluids. This occurs when receiving the pass from an unprepared pass giver, or in an improper environment.
Closing the Concept
(…) To cure by fluidic action, the more depurated fluids are the healthier, since which beneficial fluids coming directly from Superior Spirits then it is their aid that we need to obtain. Thereupon, the prayer and the supplication are required. But to prayer, especially, to prayer with fervor, is needed faith.
In order that the prayer is hearkened, it is needed which it is proffered with humbleness and enlarged by a feeling of benevolence and of charity. Now, there is neither true charity without devotement nor devotement without disinterest. Without those conditions, the MAGNETIZER, private of the attendance of the good spirits, is reduced to his own forces (...). (Healing Mediums, Spiritist Magazine, January 1864, page 9).
The universal fluid is, as has been seen, the primitive element of the carnal body and of the perispirit, which are only transformation of it. By the sameness of its nature this fluid can furnish to the body the principal reparative. Being condensed in the perispirit, the propelling power is the spirit, incarnated or disincarnated, which infiltrates into a deteriorated body a part of the substance of its fluid envelope.
The cure is performed by substitution of an unhealthy molecule for a healthy one. The curative power will then be drawn from the purity of the inoculated substance. In short, it is the intentions of he who desires to cure, let him be a man of spirit. The fluids, which emanate from an impure source, are like defective medical substances.
The thought of the incarnated mind acts upon the spiritual fluids as that of disincarnated spirit’s thought acts. It is transmitted from spirit to spirit fluids in the same way, and, according as it is good or bad, it holds a vicious or healthy relation to the surrounding fluids.
The perispirit of incarnates, being of a nature identical to that of the spiritual fluids, assimilates itself with them readily, as a sponge absorbs water, depending, of course, on the law of affinity.
These fluids acting upon the perispirit, the latter, in its turn, reacts upon the material organism with which it is in molecular contact. If the effluvia are of a good nature, the bodies receives salutary impression, if bad, a painful one. If the bad are permanent and energetic, they can cause physical disorders; certain maladies nave no other cause.
The fluid, being given as therapeutic matter, must reach organic disorder in order to repair it. It can be directed upon the evil by the will of the healing medium, or attracted by the ardent desire, the confidence, or, in one word, the faith of the sick one.
A bad fluid cannot be repelled by a bad fluid. It is necessary to expel the bad fluid by the aid of a better fluid. The therapeutic power is drawn from the purity of the inoculated substance. It depends also upon the energy of the will, which provokes a more abundant fluid emission, and gives to the fluid a greater force of penetration.
Magnetized Water
Thus the simplest agents - water, for example - can acquire powerful and effective qualities under the action of the spiritual or magnetic fluid, to which they serve as vehicle, or reservoir. (Kardec, Allan. Genesis, chapter 15, item 25).
Water is of the simplest and receptive bodies of the Earth. It is as that the pure base, in that the medication of the Sky can be impressed, through substantial resources of attendance to the body and the soul, although in invisible process to the mortal eyes. (Xavier, Francisco C. / Emmanuel. Segue–me (Follow me), page 131).
For those assertive ones, we learned that water is susceptible to acquire several qualities, of subtle or fluid nature, to the influx of an agent’s will. In the spiritist middle, the water modified by the action of Spirits disincarnated or incarnated in the sense of becoming medical substance it was known as fluid or magnetized water. They are inappropriate expressions, but that the use already consecrated. (Of the point of view of Physics, the pure water that we drink it is already a fluid, and it is not susceptible of magnetizing for a magnet, for instance).
The water, which is called fluidic water, is, in truth, a vehicle of medical resources that act upon perispirit. Indirectly, it contributes for the reestablishment of the carnal body. Mrs. Therezinha Oliveira in her book: Fluidos e Passes (Fluids and Passes), page 89. This manner she refers to the action of the fluidic water: "When being ingested, [...] it is metabolized by the organism, which absorbs the quintessence, that will act upon the perispirit to the likeness of homeopathic medicament. The fluidic water is indicated in the cases of fluidic lack, many common, when there is emotional imbalance, organic debilitation by disease, in the wastage by obsessive process, in the lesions of the organs, etc".
Being a kind of medicine, we must not misuse of its utilization, and having its ingestion an indiscriminate habit.
Water can be fluidic for the general use or for determined diseased person. That must clearly be considerate when we mobilize our will with objective of preparing the water. As in the last case the water acquires specific properties for the person that we have in mind, other people should not use it. In order to become the fluidic water, it is not necessary to impose the hands on it. The water is very receptive to the spiritual fluids and it become salutary remedy by action of the prayer at ambiences of silence and respect, where exist ardent desire of to help the needy fellow creature. As the pass, the fluid therapy is a task executed by the good Spirits with the aid of the human resources.
