1. Classification of the Passes.
In the Genesis, chapter 14, item 33, Allan Kardec demonstrates us that the magnetic action can be produced by many ways:
- By the fluid of the magnetizer himself; properly speaking, magnetism, or human magnetism (pass giver);
- By the fluid from the spirit acting directly and without intermediation upon an incarnate being;
- By the fluid which the spirits shed upon the magnetizer, to which the latter serves as a conductor. The spiritual fluid, combined with the physical, gives to the latter the qualities, which are wanting to it.
We should also consider the pass in relation to the following factors:
Distance.
- Close (around 9.843 inch) — active effect;
- Distant (starting from 11.811 inch) — tranquilizing effect.
Speed.
- Slow — CONCENTRATOR (when the pass is applied slowly, more concentrated it is);
- Rapid — DISPERSIVE (when applied very rapidly, more dispersive it is).
The concentrator pass aids when there is incorporation, while the dispersive pass prevents that is happened.
2. Types of Passes.
The magnetic action can be produced in several ways; it is like this that we classified the passes in:
- Spiritual Pass;
- Magnetic Pass;
- Mediumistic Pass;
- Combined Pass.
2.1. Spiritual Pass.
It is a type of magnetization that is given by the good Spirits, without intermediaries, acting directly in the perispirit of the sick or disturbed people. In the spiritual pass the person in need doesn’t receive magnetic fluids of mediums, but other finer and pure fluids, brought of the superior plans of the life for the Spirit that came to attend him.
For the fact of not being mixed to the animalized fluid, the spiritual pass is much more limited than the other modalities of passes. With that, it can be understood that the resources offered in the public meetings of Spiritism, where great amount incarnated and disincarnate Spirits are much larger than those that can count in our residences, only with the help of our guardian angel.
The spirits utilize of their own fluids and they act directly and without intermediaries over incarnated. The spirits pass givers manipulated the fluids. They utilize themselves of their own fluids, of the fluids of auxiliaries, of fluids of the Nature, such as medicinal plants, and also of mediums’ fluids at the distance.
2.2. Magnetic pass.

The Spirits have answered to Allan Kardec, in "The Mediums’ Book", chapter 14, question 176, 3rd item:
"...Do you suppose that spirits only act for those who believe in them? Those who magnetize with a good intention are always seconded by good spirits. Every man, when animated by good intentions, calls good spirits to him without suspecting it; and so, too, does a man practically invoke evil spirits, when his desires and intention s are evil."
Transmitted by mediums, who donate their own fluids from their own irradiating power, from their fluidic energies.
Magnetizer is an individual saturated by vital fluid, and which through desire, essential quality of spirits, utilizes his magnetic fluid and acts over it, giving it the necessary qualities.
In the case of the magnetic pass, the fluid of the disincarnated spirits do not act, the spirits only act in the strengthening the donor’s desire.
2.3. Mediumistic Pass.
Medium serves as a vehicle to the fluids that spirits spill over them. It is the combined magnetism, in that is combined spiritual and human fluids.
In that pass, the medium is in state of trance, the Spirit or Spirits involves him and he works in trance. This type of pass is dissuaded, for the partial loss of the necessary surveillance to the good transport of the works.
2.4. Combined Pass.

3. Techniques of Application.

We can classify the techniques of application in several categories such as:
- Laying on of hands;
- Longitudinal pass;
- Rotational pass;
- Transverse pass;
- Perpendicular pass — simple imposition of the hand or double imposition of the hands;
- The cold healing breath or cold insufflations;
- The hot healing breath or hot insufflations;
- Dispersive pass:
- Transverse with the arms in cross position;
- Rotational or crossed circulars;
- Of blowing;
- Incorporated pass.
Let us analyze each one:
3.1. Laying on of hands.
It is always concentrator of fluids. It can be given with one or both hands, on center of force or other point any. The hands should be without concentration of force, without muscular contraction and but "free". The pass giver can be digital or palmar. It doesn’t do smallest difference. The important is not to contradict his nature. The tumors and inflammations are healed with the passes of concentrated of active effect. 3.2. Longitudinal pass.
It is the one that is given to the patient along the body, starting at the head going to the feet and from top to bottom, with the open hands and the extended arms, usually, without any contraction. 3.3. Rotational pass.

3.4. Transverse pass.
