1. Cataloguing of the pass givers.

The pass giver’s indication can happen for:

  • Specific spiritual orientation;
  • Transfer from medium originating from other spiritist center;
  • Transfer among groups for the participation in more than a group;
  • Spiritual direction of those that complete the phase of mediumistic education;
  • To participate in studies about Spiritism, like Systematic Study about Spiritist Doctrine and other.

Each pass giver possesses a card of identification, which is filled when the person joins to the service of assistance. This card contains personal data and information of doctrinal knowledge and informs the group where the person is affiliated. The card is available into Spiritual Treatment Department of the Spiritist Group or Spiritist Center for the necessary updating, every year.

On the spiritual plane, discarnated collaborators integrate the frame of auxiliaries. All collaborators are duly qualified, according to the organization established by the mentors from the Superior Spheres, as Andre Luiz informs us in the book "In the Domain of Mediumship".

Each companion that comes to the spiritist center brings a diverse way of thinking, a diverse way of acting, and a diverse feeling. Each one is adjusted to the own mental wave. They bring their evolutionary necessities, their project of work or their habit of the individual work. Notwithstanding, it is important that each one must give him, must renounce to the many of his point of view, must congregate under the codified principles of the Spiritist Doctrine, and also must seek to integrate him under the fundamentals of the spiritist house and of group already made.

The pass is teamwork. It is common that the incarnated collaborators denote larger sum of deficiencies than the discarnated collaborators, in general more conscious of their duties and of the delicacy of the task. The service cannot be prejudiced, since it is the neighbor’s good that it is at stake. Spirits must supply such deficiencies, if of our behalf there is goodwill and earnest desire to aid. Meditating over this, we see how we need to struggle for our integral improvement!

It is important that there is harmony in the group, in spite of the individual differences, by good functioning of the tasks.

The pass giver will have for objective the renewal of patient’s intimate world, facilitating the flux of radiant fluids into patient’s body, through of the prayer and the goodwill. The pass giver must have good conditions for the task with full heart of trust, maintaining thoughts of love and humbleness, without worry with possible inferiorities that he could have, to can to transmit power and harmony in behalf of the patients. In order to obtain this is necessary that the pass giver is prepared. Remembered that the mediumship requires discipline, and discipline is for the medium, to be conditioned to the Spiritual Laws.

To have good work conditions, the medium will get ready physics, moral and spiritually, and this preparation will depend on the following conditions:

  1. Vigilance;
  2. Concentration exercise;
  3. Exercise self control;
  4. Avoid doubts and hesitations;
  5. Doctrinal knowledge:

    Allan Kardec emphasizes the importance of the continuous study of Spiritism, as have mentioned in the introduction of Spirit’s Book, in the part first of the Mediums’ Book, and in others of his works. He presents several suggestions of like it should be undertaken. There is a lot of difference between to read a text and to study it, meditating on its content.

    In case of the study of pass, it is important to have specialized knowledge of its nature, its techniques, its effects. In the chapter 14, question 176, item 7 of The Mediums’ Book, Kardec asks if the power of to heal can be transmitted: "Can this power be transmitted?" And the Spirits elucidate: "Not the power, but the knowledge which enables the possessor of that power to make an efficient use of it".

    In the chapter 19 of the book Missionaries of Light we read the explanation of notable concepts about the value of the knowledge for the good accomplishment of the spiritist tasks. Lack of study would signify stagnancy, in any work section. Above all, the methodical study of the Spiritism arouses in the people the desire to love, to forgive always, of incorporating in their souls the evangelical virtues, essential for a happy life.

  6. Physical requirements:

    In order to maintain good physical health the body requires proper food, the avoidance of all harmful and intoxicating substances. Elimination of types of medicines used for habits without medical prescription or for problems of physical order. After we have pointed some of the moral requirements, so difficult of conquering, we will do some comments about the physical conditions of who supplies the pass.

    • Hygiene: The hygiene is one of the basic requirements for the health. Besides benefiting the pass giver, his hygiene represents respect for those will receive the pass.
    • Feeding: The feeding must be balanced, appropriate to the organism, without the excesses of the gluttony and of the fast. Healthy alimentary habits, with the ingestion of fruits, vegetables, green vegetables do well not only to the pass givers, but to anybody. The worker of the pass service and of the mediumship in general, should not come of full stomach; in the hours that precede the activities it should avoid the ingestion of victuals of difficult digestion like meats and fats, of strong seasonings and exciting drinks like coffee, teas (except for tea of herbs), etc.
    • Addictions: alcohol, tobacco, poisonous: It is easy to understand that persons that attend persons in need in the area of the pass or other mediumistic tasks, they should refrain completely of such addictions. They harm the organism, they darken the reasoning, they impregnate the fluids negatively that be mobilized in favor of the neighbor and they propitiate the attraction of inferior Spirits that yet disincarnated want to continue cultivating them. We know about the immense devotion of the good Spirits that cooperate in the activities of the pass in the spiritist house in the sense of annulling the malicious action of the poisonous substances that we ingested. Presenting us in those lamentable conditions, we not just disrespected those Spirits, giving them great work, but also the people that go, with trust, to receive the pass.
    • Sexual conduct: The sexual activity in itself is instinctive, but its use is moral. The sex should only be exercised with balance, nobility, accompanied of the true love.
  7. Habit of the Gambling:

    The habit of the gambling is subject very discussed in the Spiritist Movement. Some segments admit certain games, as raffles or bingos to help the spiritist center. However, we should be reflected if welcoming that activity type in ours would not be half in some way supporting the vision that should look for the easy material earnings in the call "chance", to the detriment of the work, for humble that it is. The material maintenance of the centers in fact constitutes common and difficult problem for the leaders, because the collaborators not always they account that it accomplishes them the duty of helping them materially, in the measure of their possibilities, of course.

  8. Moral preparation:

    Besides all of the items mentioned above, if giver pass’ ideal is to serve, to help and to cure, he will still need to exercise:

    • Prayer: We should have absolute trust in the mercy and justice of God, reminding that it is to it that, ultimately, the therapeutic resources of the pass come. The prayer and the meditation establish our connection with the divine emissaries, creating an excellent climate for the success of the spiritual work.
    • Love: Choose the love like basis of life. It is the largest incentive of our progress, heading for the summits where await us the peace and the happiness.
    • Patience:

      The patience is an indispensable virtue for who is disposed to receive the needy siblings and afflicted, that a lot of times arrive to the spiritist center in franc psychic light-headed, could cause irritation to who doesn’t remember that he is somebody that sickened of the spirit.

      The affability and the sweetness are beloved daughters of the patience. To hear with patience that one who is imbalance or that ignores the spiritual mechanism, it is already a progress in the treatment of many evils. The good spiritist worker should acquire the excellent habit of hearing more than to speak. That he "speaks" especially with heart, for the emissions of the good.

    • Constant Christian existence:

      It is very good having generous impulses; but it is better even so that the generosity is constant in all our attitudes. In the cheerful moments it is very easy to assume Christian attitudes. In the hour of the expiatory testimonies, of the tests with difficult people, however, the scream of cholera, obstinate criticism, the less noble thoughts invade our being, still close of the irrationality. As consequence, the uncomfortable disturbances of the depression appear, of the discouragement, of the suicide, of the cruel obsessive processes.

  9. Emotional balance:

    The emotional balance is a quite difficult requirement, but that can be conquered. For that conquest it is necessary that we don’t wear away with excessive sorrows, passions, resentments, fears, nervousness, etc. They are unhealthy states that express the lack of faith in the divine purposes. The prayer and the service to the neighbor are notable resources for the emotional balance.

    We should abstain from giving pass when in spiritual imbalance, because the fluids are as that "polluted".

  10. Continuous Preparation:

    The need to apply pass in somebody can appear at any moment. Whence it is the important that pass giver is always prepared, even during his professional work or in the moments of leisure.

    The good Spirits need to rely on us for the emergency tasks, sometimes out of the spiritist house. They can mobilize our resources to assist our more lacking siblings without at last we take conscience of that, in the thoroughfare, in the bus, in the workplace, in a fraternal visit, etc.

    • Kindness;
    • Discretion;
    • Discernment;
    • Perseverance;
    • Sacrifice;
    • Responsibility;
    • Discipline:

      With the disciplined work, the spiritists find time to accomplish all their duties and more assiduous and punctual being in the tasks assumed in the spiritist center.

      It should remember that the spiritual tasks are not mechanical. The worker arrives in the industry, he switches on the machines and everything begins to work. The spiritual activities, however, need intimate preparation, meditation, physical and mental undisturbed for that be developed satisfactorily.

      The respect to the established programming for the works of the pass is indispensable. Those that not come or arrive late disorganize the harmonic rhythm of the activities.

2. General adjustments.

  • Passes at Home:

    Passes at home are offered only to those persons who are physically unable to visit a Spiritist Center.

    In this case, the pass giver will follow some rules:

    • the pass can be applied also at home, at hospitals, at day care center, in the work, in the streets, etc., with the due discretion. If there is no reserved environment, in which only there are present peoples that will understand and contribute positively with the task. We should refrain of any ostensible practice. In this case, we will fall back on silent prayer, asking the Good Spirits that take advantage, if possible, our fluidic resources in the aid to the neighbor. Like this, we can transmit the pass with a hug, a handshake or with a simple love glance. The pass is given without being noticed for curious.
    • However, always that the patient can to go until the spiritist center, we should ask that he makes it, to receive the pass. In that way, he will also take advantage of the evangelical and doctrinal lectures that should always precede the transmission of the passes, awaking him for the noble values of the life, when he is going to meditate about their actions, correcting his directions.
    • Some people are embarrassed that they are seen in the spiritist center, and then they request that the team of pass goes to their home. In that case we may suggest them the modification of their attitude, and not obtaining success, cautiously we abstain of assisting to the little reasonable appeal. They will still evidence not to be willing to change their prejudices and old ideas for the spiritual values. It was for knowing the human creature’s reluctance in doing that transformation that Jesus asserted, in figurative language: "Whosoever therefore, shall be ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him shall the Son of Man be ashamed, when He shall come in the glory of His Father with the holy angels." (Mark 8: 38, Luke 9: 26). It is not that we may take revenge of that person, or to be hurt with her; but we may leave that the time operates her ripening.
    • Even in the case of impediment for illness, we should only apply passes out of the center when they are been requested by the patient or, in the absolute impediment of him, for his family. We have news of cases in that family or friends requested pass for a patient that, at the moment, rejected it. In those cases, the pass would not have effect.
    • The pass out of the spiritist center has the inconvenience of the environment, possibly unfavorable, impregnated of fluidic miasma of anger, and slander, and alcoholic, and of tobacco etc. Even so, it is charity to assist and to win with balance the obstacles, when there are a sincere request and a minimum gladly on the part of the patient and his family. The common sense and the charity are always the elements that may prevail when we shall take any decision to that respect. We may impose ourselves inflexible and automated rules in tasks of that gender.

3. Additional recommendations.

  1. Never to attend only, but in a team of three people, just. To avoid the social conversations of custom, refusing to apply passes in the other members of the family, explaining daintily that the pass is exclusive for what is, in the moment, disabled of attending the Spiritualistic Center. IMPORTANT: Never to accept anything to drink or to eat, or even the simple small black coffee. The maximum allowed will be water, preferably;
  2. Never to do promises;
  3. To have certainty that in the room of passes everyone we are same;
  4. Never to ask if the objectives of the pass are reached or no;
  5. To avoid acknowledgment;
  6. Don’t tolerate indisciplines nor agree with them in the task;
  7. Don’t permit nor promote the patient’s mediumistic manifestation;
  8. To avoid any scandal expression, of curiosity or of laughter;
  9. To be careful with the garment, using of jewels or bijouteries;
  10. Care with personal hygiene is always necessary, not only in task days;
  11. To avoid physical contact with the patient during the pass.

4. The patient.

  1. Mental position to receive pass:

    So that the patient obtains improvement, the people that look for the resource of the pass must have appropriate mental posture. To that respect, it is interesting consult the item 10 of the chapter 15 of Genesis. Allan Kardec analyzes the evangelical passage of the woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years (Mark 5: 25 to 34), one of the countless cures operated by Jesus.

    Let us see this passage:

    The fluid, being given as therapeutic matter, must reach organic disorder in order to repair it. It can be directed upon the evil by the will of the healing medium, or attracted by the ardent desire, the confidence, or, in one word, the faith of the sick one. In regard to the fluidic current the first is the effect of forcing it, and the second of suction.

    Who will receive the pass must be ruled in the attitude of the woman who had been subject to bleeding, that was healed because by her ardent faith, she absorbed, attracted and assimilated the Jesus’ amorous fluids. Jesus was then right in saying "Your faith has healed you".

    We know that fluids are assimilated by perispirit that possesses, among others, the notable property of absorbing atmosphere fluids. We verified, like this, the great importance of the patient’s mental and spiritual posture, with the thought in prayer, in constant connection with the good Spirits, for the pass to be effective.

  2. Physical position to receive the pass:

    Who will receive the pass must be in the position that gives him more physical comfort. The pass is transmitted to the perispirit, independently of the position of the physical body. Depending on the place, will can lie down, or seat, or stand up. But in any case, he should be relaxed and breathing normally.

    There is no need to be with the hands flattened upward, as if they were to "receive" something material.

    Certain persons allege, who we must not cross the arms or legs, because such postures would hinder the "circulation" of the fluids. However, it appears to us that, if we don’t cross arms or legs, it is because in general disturbs the sanguine circulation and it generates muscular tensions.

    Sensations of warmth, cold, tremble, perspiration, and creeps; crying can happen during the pass; they are usually motivated by psychological causes. The mysticism, that many still were not disentangled, can provoke varied illusory effects.

    Neither the pass giver nor the patients need to remove bracelets, necklaces, clocks, glasses, shoes, etc. Such objects don’t interfere in the pass, because they are of diverse nature of that of the fluids.

    We see that some smokers hasten themselves to get rid of bundle of cigarettes, momentarily. The presence of cigarettes is not itself the problem. The serious problem is the habit of smoking, that it intoxicates the organism, which acts in sense contrary to the pass, when received.

  3. When to receive the pass:

    Do not abuse, above all of those that aid you. Do not take the place of the truly needy, so just because your caprices and personal resentments are wounded. (Emmanuel, in the book "Follow me", p 134)

    On anybody, you do not impose your hands, hastily. Paul. (1st Timothy, 5:22).

    Of those wise admonitions from Emmanuel and from Gentile’s Apostle, we concluded that the people should only look for the resources of the pass when they really have need. Pass is medicine. And every medicine is only taken when necessary, in the right dose, and until which health is recovered. If we are well, the pass is dispensable.

    In the book "Spiritist Conduct", chapter 28, Andre Luiz recommends to us "to explain the companions as for the inconvenience of the pass petition everyday, without real need, in order that the gender of aid doesn’t become mania".

    If the person doesn’t need pass, we must explain to them to such respect. Guiding them for the doctrinal study and the service to the neighbor. We must remember that the problems of our day can be resolved with common sense, honesty, equilibrium and a lot of discipline.

    In his book "Follow me", Emmanuel expresses himself about the case whom needs of the pass, like this: "The pass also expresses exhausted of forces, and we must not provoke the expense of energies from the High, with childishness and trifles". (page 134).

    Many people that look for the pass must, likewise, to look for the aid of the human medicine. Allan Kardec has warned several times that before any disturbance, we must before anything else to research its possible organic causes. It is not the function of the pass and of the Spiritism to substitute the methods of the science in the treatment of the illnesses. The Spiritism aims, in first place, to explain to the people, so that they correct their moral proceeding, and satisfying like this to the needs of expiation and of suffering. Then, it aims at the supplemental the medical treatment, renewing the patient’s vital fluids for the application of the pass and of the fluidic water.

    When everything that can be made in the medical and spiritual sphere have been being made, the Spiritist Doctrine enlightens to us that the pain will be being necessary for the patient’s evolution, must be faced with resignation.

    In those who may be suffering irreversible illness, the pass processes beneficial effect, relieves to them to support their pains, and contributing in order to become least painful the process of dissolution.

    The pass can contribute in cases of obsession in order to free the influence of the obsessor of the psychism from the one is obsessed. But this liberation doesn’t constitute base therapeutics. Obtained like this a "cessation", it is necessary who one is obsessed of the malicious influences is guided to look for the resources of the Gospel and of the Spiritist Doctrine for his definitive liberation, transforming his mental and moral pattern.

    The pass is also used as blessed treatment for the suffering Spirits from the spiritual world. This can occur when an incarnated person is receiving the pass, and the person is deeply linked to a spirit, who is also being benefited by the fluidic resources. In the spiritual world, a spirit can also transmit the pass to other spirit, as is narrated, for example, in the book "The Messengers", chapter 22 to 25 by spirit Andre Luiz.

5. In the room of the passes: Sanctuary of passes.

The Spirit Andre Luiz in his book "The Spiritist Conduct" informs us:

From polluted environment, you cannot wait anything of good.

Most appropriate place for pass.

The most appropriate location for the pass transmission is within a spiritist center that by nature of its activities constitutes the most important nucleus of aid to the incarnate and discarnate, with respect to the assistance from spiritual order.

When it is possible, a separate room dedicated exclusively to this work must be reserved. In this room are met sublime fluidic resources that are driven from elevated thoughts and from prayers.

The room of the pass must be simple, but it must constantly be cleanly, and it must be ventilated and sunny. The Spiritual Benefactors assist in the preparation of the spiritual environment, however they cannot use broom, water and soap.
