The Spiritist Home Chico Xavier has been built. The inauguration was a success, with the presence of about 2,000 people that overcrowded our installations to hear Divaldo Pereira Franco, that in illuminated moment he has exposed a memorable lecture, that we kept recorded in video, with all the inauguration, to maintain the like alive memory of the blessed days, the first of our Institution.
The following day to the inauguration, we have been to make the necessary arrangements, since we still had not hired employees, and in the pergola that was to the seaside, accompanying the evening, I admired the work that was beautiful, full of life and I asked the sea. "And now companion, we are neighboring, we will go until the day that God to allow to hear its music, brought by its waves and for the bland wind that always absorbs of it the breeze that in the touch us gently. What to do now?
It involved us the certainty that the work begun would be being driven by the Spirits friends and that we would never be alone.
We have planned the Statutes and we have chosen Deliberative Council with their substitutes, and they have chosen the Executive Management. The minutes have been registered in own book, and the Deliberative Council and the Executive Management have taken ownership.
We have hired a watchman and more five employees and we have opened the doors for the public, after the dear Spirits we advised, on the days of the public meetings – Thursday and Sunday.
First Meeting, fear, insecurity, and crowded auditorium for 120 people. That fright! That fear!
The exhibitor has been the dear companion, of who we kept a debt of gratitude at the bottom of one’s heart. João the Batista Campos has spoke in brilliant narrative about the life of Joana D’Arc. Most of the visitors have questioned about the application of passes. The room of passes has been ready, however the pass givers have been not prepared yet. We have let the application of passes for the following meeting when our friend Bernardino and Mrs. Josefa have assumed the task.
In the course of time, it has arrived more pass givers, Vera, Mrs. Helena and Mrs. Maria José and so many others have supplied our needs.
Therein it has begun to come boys and girls, the children that we have adopted. In a period of two years of the inauguration we already had 28 children, reaching the sum of 34 on July 28, 1991, when we closed the children's reception, for obvious reasons. The Dr. Bezerra de Menezes medical and dental clinic, in the first week has already been in the complete use, assisting many that has sought us.
The soup and breads distribution has already reached, in the first weeks the sum of 200 children's and 300 adults, the increase has been geometric and we have continued to produce soups and meals.
Clothes and medicines have been distributed since the first moments and the doctrinal information has been taken to all the persons in need.
The Sister Amelia Bookstore and the Joanna de Angelis Library have already worked since the first day, being assumed by the dear friend Mrs. Marluce that has been receiving assistants with the time, Mr. Edir, Mrs. Ada and Mrs. Helena.
One day, a questioning has appeared: And the mediumistic meetings, and the mediumistic meetings of disobsessions? We have not known anything about those meetings, for we have not participated in any, since in the House of the Spiritists, where we have begun, and meetings of that type have not been practiced.
As Vera is medium, after reading the instructions of FEB (Brazilian Spiritist Federation), I have taken the decision, and soon after some thirty days of operation of the House, we have begun the Mediumistic Meetings, I have been indoctrinating and Vera incorporating. It as been a beauty and I have liked so much that I have wanted to do mediumistic meeting everyday, what it has not been possible, for having received orientations of the Venerable Spirit Miguel Vives y Vives and of our sister Maria that bit by bit they have been illuminating us and motivating us to invite some companions for the blessed practice of the mediumship. It has been many companions, it has been many experiences, it has been much apprenticeship, a lot of messages, some have lost, and however most has kept with a lot of affection.
It has not been easy, however the discipline and the companions' help and of the Spirits trained us and after 15 years, we are sure that we reached what the illuminated and beloved Spirits and have waited of us.
Therefore then, we have begun the mediumistic meetings of disobsessions, fraternal services, courses of passes, study about mediumship, study about the Spirits’ Book, Study about the Mediums’ Book, and of another Kardec’ works as well as we have implanted the Study about ESDE (Systematized Study about the Spiritist Doctrine), we have also implanted groups geared toward to the charity (Pregnant Group, Group of aid to old women, Spiritist Youth, Evangelism for children, Caravans etc.). With the time each group has been defining itself and taking the name self-sacrificing companions like as Sister Memei Group, Group Uir of Jesus Almeida, Sister Amelia Bookstore, and Joanna de Angelis Library.
Finally the House has been working in the complete apogee, including all of the works that the Spiritist Doctrine we advise to hug. We have hugged and we are happy for living that the objectives were being reached.
Spiritist center does not stop, how much work itself, more work comes, and more spaces are demanded. We began for the first enlargement when we completed ten years. The house, as they say, grew.
